Technology & Compatibility
Vivid Reports Flex is built on the Microsoft technology stack. As a Microsoft Gold Certified ISV, all the client application code is written in Microsoft .Net. The client consists of a Microsoft Excel® Add-In and a .Net application for the administration interface (all accessible from the Add-In). Our technology is professionally designed, developed and tested by our team of expert software engineers.
Product direction, including new features and functionality, is primarily driven by the feedback we receive from our extensive user base. We also rely on our in-house accountants, business experts and partners. We constantly research emerging technologies to keep ahead of the curve. We’re also continuously researching our software solutions to enable improvements and enhancements to provide a better overall user experience and value.
Compatible Technology
Microsoft Excel®
Vivid Reports Flex supports Microsoft Excel® 2003 SP2, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and Excel 365 Desktop (including 32- and 64-bit versions). There is a different client install for each version of Microsoft Excel®. Only one version of Flex can be installed per computer at a time therefore you cannot have Flex running in Microsoft Excel® 2003 and Microsoft Excel® 2010 from the same computer. Vivid Reports Flex is currently not compatible with any other spreadsheet programs such as Star Office, Open Office or Google spreadsheets.
Operating Systems
Provided Microsoft Excel® is installed, Vivid Reports Flex will be compatible with the Client Operating System. The email automation feature is currently only compatible with Microsoft Outlook®.
Terminal Software
Vivid Reports Flex is often deployed through either Citrix Server or Microsoft Terminal Services. An advantage of using terminal software to deploy Microsoft Excel® and Flex is that you do not have to install or upgrade Flex on multiple machines.
Vivid ETL™ (Extract, Transform, Load)
Vivid ETL™ allows you to localize cloud-based data into a Microsoft SQL Server® database that may reside either on-premise or in the cloud on an Azure® server. Vivid Flex is fully compatible with Vivid ETL™ as a tool to report on all data transferred to your choice of localized database. Currently, Vivid ETL™ is compatible with Microsoft Business Central®, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Epicor 10 Cloud, and Insightly CRM with more connectors being added soon.
Web Application
Vivid Flex and Vivid CPM both have cloud deployment options for a completely web-based user experience that does not require Microsoft Excel®. With the Vivid Flex web application, Flex users can view and interact with their Flex reports using a browser such as Google Chrome. This enables reports and templates to be used on any device such as a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone. Vivid Flex’s web application can read existing Excel based reports and templates without any modification making existing reports a snap to deploy over the web. The web application makes deployment a snap because you do not have to install the Vivid add-in on each computer and upgrades are instant.
